About the Tuftista
Since childhood I felt a creative pull, something that wanted to take form. I was good at many things, but art always held a different kind of power. For years it stayed a quiet, unspoken dream. Into adulthood I carried a vague emptiness, like nothing I did quite fit. Then I found tufting, and something settled.
It felt like an old connection between me and the material. Wool, to me, is more than a fiber. It's alive. Soft and enveloping, yet strong and resilient. I've been drawn ever since to that quiet paradox: sheltering and powerful at once.
Creating is my way of connecting.
Each piece is a journey inward, for me and for the person it's made for. When someone commissions a work, they aren't just asking for wall art. They're inviting a feeling, a presence, into their space. My role is to translate. I take an emotion or an intention and weave it into form, fiber, and texture. When I work, I grow too. That's when I feel most myself, in flow.
How I work
I sit down and begin, sometimes for ten to fourteen hours at a stretch. I let the material lead. No overthinking, no forcing. It's an intuitive, meditative process where time dissolves and I merge with the wool.
Techniques I use
I work mainly with tufting and wet felting, though what excites me most is combining methods. A single piece might bring together tufting, needle felting, and wet felting, all in wool, each technique drawing a different energy from it.
